I've spent the first couple of weeks of 2014 working on some new pieces of work, and sorting out my diary for the first half of 2014.
2013 was a very busy year for me. I continued to co-ordinate two long-term, lottery funded, projects for Hive exploring the use of natural colour and the impact of these activities on wellbeing and connections to heritage. In addition, I delivered natural dyeing sessions in Universities, which included work for The Crysalis Project, a European Union funded project exploring the revival of tradition in textiles.
This year I am continuing to do community based work, teach dyeing and stitching workshops from my home studio and for the first time I am teaching outside the UK. I am delighted to have been asked to lead a 5 day workshop for Les Souers Anglaises at their beautiful venue in South West France in May. Slow Colour and Stitch will use the gardens around the workshop venue as inspiration for naturally dyed, hand-stitched textile projects. There are a few spaces left so if you are interested in taking part please click here for more information.
