dye plant journal - march

Madder

Weld

Woad

My dye plant seedlings are (mostly) happily growing on my kitchen windowsill. There were a few early weld casualties so I've started off a few more. I'm about to plant the japanese indigo seeds I harvested from the plants I grew last year. It will be interesting to see if they are viable.

Wish you lots of succes! Though I've heard "madder" has to grow for years before you can use the roots ....?!

    1. Ideally a minimum of 3 years for madder... slow work. I'm hoping for some good weather to give these plants the best chance. Sadly one can never guarantee that the British weather will be good!
