dye plant journal

Weld

Woad

Madder

Seeds planted 17th February. Germinating well, and out of the airing cupboard onto my windowsill. I tried and tried to get Weld seeds to germinate last year but with no success. Fingers crossed this time.

:: I'm going to follow the progress of these plants here and here this growing season. I'll tag the posts dye plant journal for anyone who wants to follow the process.

  3. Very precious and wonderful idea, the journal I mean. Good luck with weld, pardon my ignorance but I assume you use it for dyeing? What colour? I recognise the other two but not this one.

    1. Hi Robyn. Thank you for your comment. Weld is an ancient dye plant that makes brilliant yellows. It's a very strong and fast dye.

  4. Good luck to your tiny babies. There is something so encouraging about seeing a seed growing after the long darkness of winter. You are growing joy, I think.
