layers and luck

After worrying that supplies of old thread were running low recently, I spent a bit of time in the local charity shops on my day off. My timing must have been just right. A riot of colour, and some lovely old wooden spools. Tiny little embroidery scissors too. These have come in handy cutting through some layers.

Not a riot of colour at all, but it's coming together.

  2. Bounty indeed! Almost a shame you cant incorporate the old spool lables into a piece too.
Love the way youve stitched the hexies, would never have thought of doing that, yet its a beautiful effect. Almost like their hugging themselves together in stitch.

  4. ace stuff. I scored a batch of anchor thread in one of our many local charity shops the other week. Then I read some stuff online about not using it in one's sewing machine as it may be more likely to break. Can that be true? Well, if so, I shall keep it for handsewing.

I have been trying to think of ways that I can turn my passion for raiding charity shops and stitching into some kind of living but my confidence is lacking....

Happy 'new' year by the way!

  5. Happy new year to you too. Thought of you when i found this haul of thread as some of it is Clarke's from Paisley. Have used anchor thread in reverse (wound round the bobbin) in my machine with no probs. Come South soon and talk craft with me!
